江南卢州府合肥县包家村的包怀员外已有两个儿子包山（邬伟强饰）和包海（周全喜饰），且都已婚；不想包妻又怀第三胎，包员外恐怕老伴临盆苦痛，而终日郁郁不乐，加上他在包妻产前又梦见有一头怪物从天而降，故对包妻产下的男婴感到惊吓不已。 包海为了财产，知道父亲认定幼弟是妖邪，即献议将他抛弃在深山之中。包山与妻子（曾思佩饰）于心不忍，事后偷偷到山中抢回幼弟，加以抚养，并取名黑子（包公）。 包公到了七岁才与生母相认，时包海发现幼弟未死，遂劝父亲命弟弟去放牛。包公与村野牧童为伍，年少气盛，爱打抱不平，尚自创“打斗十八式”拳术，一心想闯荡江湖。 包公（周初明饰）长大之后，有一次因目睹太监曹公公（杨光饰）带领卫士捉拿侵犯李珂（李月仪饰）及李珏（林里嫔饰）两姐妹，乃出手相助而闯祸。其间，他除了结识了侠义之士展昭（张文祥饰）及白玉堂（陈汉玮饰）之外，也在狱中遇到遭庞太师（刘谦...。The subtitle of Jean-Marie Straub and Danièle Huillet’s first feature, from 1965, “Only Violence Helps Where Violence Reigns,” suggests the fierce political program evoked by their rigorous aesthetic. The pretext of the film, set in Cologne, is Heinrich Böll’s novel “Billiards at Half Past Nine,” which they strip down to a handful of stark events and film with a confrontational angularity akin to Bartók’s music that adorns the soundtrack. The subtlest of cues accompany the story’s complex flashbacks. The middle-aged Robert Fähmel tells a young hotel bellhop of persecutions under the Third Reich| his elderly father, Heinrich, an architect famed for a local abbey, recalls the militarism of the First World War, when his wife, Johanna, incurred trouble for insulting the Kaiser. A third-generation Fähmel is considering architecture, just as the exiled brother of Robert’s late wife, returns, only to be met by their former torturer, now a West German official taking part in a celebratory parade of war veterans. Straub and Huillet make the layers of history live in the present tense, which they judge severely.
