程纬（周润发饰）是前途无量的大学毕业生，进入公司后，能力颇佳的他深得大老板的赏识，更与老板的女儿方希文（郑裕玲饰）之间产生了真挚的感情，渐渐走到一起。然而程纬的母亲深陷赌瘾之中无法自拔，欠下巨额赌债，为了帮助母亲还债，程纬不得不动了挪用公款的心思。 程纬的行径被一直眼红他的阮其昌（李道洪饰）揭发了，最终，程纬为自己的行为付出了代价，锒铛入狱，他和方希文之间的感情也就此走到了尽头。在狱中，本性善良的程纬很快就交到了朋友，其中就有曾经的黑帮头目龙冠。出狱后，在龙冠的介绍之下，程纬进入了一家珠宝公司工作，人生重新走上了正轨。。This is the second film about the detective Feluda (Soumitra Chatterjee) set in the holy city of Benares, where he (along with his cousin, Topshe and friend, Lalmohan Ganguly) goes for a holiday.
